Why We Created These Trails
nortique Ltd was founded on a simple observation: Ireland's most spectacular heritage sites weren't always welcoming for older walkers.
We noticed something that bothered us. The Hill of Tara royal enclosure — one of Ireland's most significant archaeological sites — existed in a landscape that didn't quite work for people in their 60s, 70s, and beyond. The paths were challenging. The information wasn't tailored. Nobody had really thought about what an older adult needed to experience this place safely and meaningfully.
That's when we started researching. We spoke with senior walkers, accessibility experts, and historians. We visited the sites ourselves repeatedly, learning every slope, every rough patch, every vantage point. The result? We've designed a collection of gentle trails through Meath's most beautiful heritage areas — routes that respect both the landscape's historical significance and the physical realities of aging.
It's not about making things easier by compromising the experience. It's about smart route planning, proper information, and genuine understanding of what makes outdoor heritage accessible. We've been refining these trails since 2019, and we're still learning from every person who walks them.
